Jolanda Löllmann and Charlie Denat, founders of DÍRTZ Theatre (France), combine dance, circus and puppetry in all their productions.
Amongst the winners of EFFEA-European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists, at Alpe Adria Puppet Festival they will present “Short Stories”, a project combining contemporary dance, physical theatre and puppetry, describing with humour and affection the connections between the different phases in human life: “Nonna(s) don’t cry” is a poetic homage to becoming elderly; a “solo” that becomes a physical dialogue between two women (a dancer and a puppet) of different ages, between two generations, between past, present, and future; “Le troisième Pas” is a dance a trois performed by two dancers and a puppet, focussing on the interdependence and connections between human beings and objects, and on the “bonds" that stay with us throughout our lifetimes.
Short stories merges dance and human-size puppets, human bodies and objects, manipulator and manipulated, in a subtle and unexpected way. With a touch of humour and poetry, their universe leaves room for imagination and metaphor. Dirtz’s works are characterised by the attention to movement, and by a strong taste for precise manipulation.
