The arduous migration of a woman and her son from the south to the north of a newly united Italy. A story of the late 19th century not unlike many stories of today: the themes of hardship and exclusion, the need to find acceptance not only in housing and employment, the difficult confrontation between distant individual histories, the important function of the school whose task it is to identify appropriate strategies for each learning mode.
