departure
In Slovenian, with Italian and English subtitles
Premiered at Lutkovno Gledališče Ljubljana in November 2024, Departure highlights the consequences of humanity’s excessive interference in the natural world. The continued pursuit of economic growth is justifying the constant erosion of river habitats, with increasingly frequent climatic adverse events serving as urgent and powerful reminders that nature acts according to its own rules.
The show therefore highlights the exhausted and chaotic balance of the ecosystem, calling for urgent changes with a view to sustainable solutions. How many more warnings will humanity
ignore before taking action?

Through six unique productions, the project examines transport’s dual role as a driver of globalisation and a source of environmental harm.

Lutkovno Gledališče Ljubljana (LGL) is Slovenia’s leading puppet theatre, producing shows for children, young people and adults, drawing on a century-old tradition of puppetry, a heritage it preserves also thanks to the Puppet Museum located in Ljubljana Castle.
Every two years, LGL hosts the International Puppet Festival LUTKE and promotes a programme for emerging artists called BiTeater, which includes experimental productions in which the language of puppets is enriched by other artistic media.
