2XGO – PREMIERE

2xGO is the result of a project conceived by CTA Gorizia and Slou Coop, based in the province of Udine. The protagonist of the play is the city of Gorizia/Gorica. Its portrait is created through photos taken by citizens of Gorizia and Nova Gorica, in different places in the two cities and at different times. The life of the city is the life of its inhabitants, which remains suspended in the moment of the shot. The selected images are complemented by objects adding a third dimension to the two-dimensional world of photography, and come to life with the help of movement and sound. The performance combines the multifaceted talent of multi-instrumentalist and performer Leo Virgili with the grace and skill of flautist and Puppet Theatre actress Urška Cvetko, under the creative guidance of playwright and theatre director Jelena Sitar from Ljubljana. The two musicians create new visions of the City, playing and improvising with music, images and objects.

2xGO has been an actual project of a group of painters and sculptors from Gorizia and Nova Gorica, then still Yugoslavia, led by the art historian and journalist Sandi Sitar at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. The aim was to overcome/cross the border through art.
