PROJECT TRANSPORT – CARGO

Transport is a European co-production project bringing together CTA Gorizia and six prestigious theatre institutions: Klaipėdos Lėlių Teatras (Klaipeda, Lithuania), Białostocki Teatr Lalek (Białystok, Poland), Eesti Noorsooteater (Tallinn, Estonia), Divadlo Alfa Plzeň (Czech Republic), Lutkovno gledališče Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Lutkovno Gledališče Maribor (Slovenia), under the guidance of the young and talented Slovenian director Tin Grabnar.

This unique collaboration will result in six Table Theatre performances exploring the topic of transport, and how it affects our lives and our planet. Each show is a stand-alone work, with its own story and narrative arc, but together they can be combined and presented in any order, creating a dense network of interrelations and connections.

The entire project will be hosted at the Alpe Adria Puppet Festival at GO! 2025.

Cargo is about one of the most interesting places from the point of view of transport: the motorway. In the scale model of a part of a motorway, the focus is set on a driver who spends his days driving a truck transporting goods. His story will end tragically in a traffic accident. And only when the injured have to be transported to hospital in an emergency vehicle as soon as possible, will it become clear to everyone how dependent we are on transport.

Transport is an essential part of modern society. Although transport systems are rarely noticed and we do not pay proper attention to them, they are everywhere around us. They determine the rhythms of our lives, enable global connectivity and represent social development. Globalisation allows us to transport people, goods, concepts, thoughts and ideas. This has created bridges between different cultures that support each other, but at the same time have also become increasingly alike, to the detriment of local identities and economies, and have increased environmental deterioration.
