Piuma (Feather) is the latest addition to the Di Filippo Marionette family. He is also the smallest of them all, being only 28 centimetres tall and weighing 352 grams. Born in Australia in 2023, he can easily be called a ‘pocket-sized puppet’.
He might inspire a good deal of charm, but there’s only one problem: he doesn’t actually want to work and do his act. So here is a series of amusing interactions between Piuma and the puppeteer Remo, who looms over him with his 176 centimetres height.
Conceived for a small audience, this play intends the spectators to be as close as possible in order for them to enjoy the details of the lazy little rascal’s movements. What will happen between the two? More importantly, will the play ever come to an end?

Di Filippo Marionette is an Italian-Australian puppet theatre company founded in 2010 by Italian puppeteer-actor Remo Di Filippo, joined since 2014 by Filipino-Australian performer Rhoda Lopez. Remo’s passion for commedia dell’arte and the world of puppetry, has merged with the theatrical background of song and dance brought by Rhoda. Together they create their puppets in their workshop in Offida, in the province of Ascoli Piceno, where they also run a figure theatre festival, the International FOF.
In their shows, presented in theatres, festivals, schools, hospitals and prisons across more than 30 countries, the puppets tell their stories through movement, music, live singing and interaction with their “manipulActors”.
