Hyperrealistic miniature theatre

In this age of globalisation and frenetic lifestyles, air travel has become a synonym of economic growth and freedom of movement. Connecting Flights takes us to an airport, a crossroads of cultures and routes that proves to be a microcosm of the globalised world. This transit space, where dreams of new beginnings intersect with the reality of human relationships, becomes a powerful metaphor for the complexity of contemporary society.
The show sensitively depicts the contrast between the ideals of global connectivity, freedom of movement, equality and openness and a reality shaped by limitations, prejudice and xenophobia, uncovering the invisible hierarchies of privilege and power that guide the lives of individuals.
Through personal stories set in this temporary location, the show encourages reflection on fundamental human issues and how our actions and attitudes shape the world we live i

The performance is part of the “Transport” project.
The project led by Slovenian director Tin Grabnar, is an international co-production uniting six theaters from Slovenia, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic in the 2024/2025 season.

Through six unique productions, the project examines transport’s dual role as a driver of globalisation and a source of environmental harm.

The history of the Białystocki Teatr Lalek began in 1953, when the Polish Ministry of Culture and Art granted a subsidy and professional theatre status to the company, which had been founded in 1937 by Piotr Sawicki and Helena Pacewicz. Over the years, the puppet theatre on which the first productions were based, has been enriched with contemporary ideas drawn from the use of new technologies.
